Simone De Beauvoir, The Woman Destroyed, Book Sculpture, Book Figure, Book Art, Librarian Gift, Livres en Français, book lover, paper art
This is an EXAMPLE of sculpture I have made and sold in the past. This particular sculpture is not for sale (she currently lives in France!) This little book person stands at about 8 inches. She is on a miniature red book pedestal. She balancing tomes in her arms and has a delicate pencil holding up her french twist. I like to think of her as a bookseller, shelving the stacks, but she could just as easily be a librarian or book enthusiast at the bookshop choosing to take home them all. She is built of wire, glue and spun from the book La Femme Rompue (The Woman Destroyed) by Simone De Beauvoir. I worked with the text in it's original French language, reading along with an English translation to be sure I featured significant phrases.
She has been treated with a sealant for moisture (not waterproof) and UV, but she is still a delicate thing.
The sculpture I will make for you can be spun of the book of your choice. I am a bookseller and have access to most books in print at a great discount. A sculpture like this, with a book base and other sculptural elements like the books she holds would start at with a base price with cost of books added on. Custom work really excites me and if desired, I will update you every step of my process. Message me, and let's design something together!
Work commences upon payment and most sculptures can be completed within 3-4 weeks (often sooner!) depending on the individual orders. Holiday time frames will vary, according to my work load.
