Book sculpture.

This is an EXAMPLE of a sculpture I made and sold in the past. This exact sculpture is not for sale (the lovers currently live in Michigan!)

This pair was inspired by the Romeo and Juliet sculpture in Central Park, but have taken on an identity all their own. The figures were made of wire and cut strips of text from the book War and Peace. The base book is Julia Glass' The Widow's Tale.

The whole sculpture is about 7 inches tall and 9 inches wide. It has been treated with a moisture and UV sealant (it is not waterproof). It may not be as fragile as it looks, but the book and lovers cannot be manipulated from this position. It can't be closed, or read in whole (although I have read them both and would highly recommend them!)

The custom sculpture I will make for you can be crafted from the book of your choice. Variations are possible in the size of the figures, their positioning, hairstyles and dress. Variations are also possible in book used to mount the sculpture. The book could be cut large or small, we could even do a wedding cake topper! The initial cost for a sculpture like this, with 2 figures, starts with a base price plus the cost of any books needed. I am a bookseller and have access to most books in print at a deep discount.

Custom work is really exciting to me and I will update you through every step of my process. Message me and let's design something together!

Refunds

I will gladly refund payment for any sculpture that arrives damaged do to insufficient packaging. These sculptures are all one-of-kind handmade works of art. They are delicate and will vary in shape and size. Some elements of the sculpture may seem flexible or able to be slightly manipulated, but this is not recommended. The text strips are easily ripped or damaged with manipulation. No refunds will be issued for damage incurred through manipulation.

Any custom work involves as much communication with the buyer as they desire, including status reports and photos of work progress. Because of this, I cannot offer refunds on custom work.
